A very easy day by contrast. A mere 11 miles in the heat, carrying a heavy rucksack. No problem at all.
Breakfast was included at the guesthouse but they needn’t have bothered. A sort of Danish pastry covered in icing sugar presented in cellophane was on offer. I ate it, abandoned the chocolate covered waffle and left being glad that I had not taken dinner there the night before. About three miles on the trail though I came to a super cafe next to the river at Zuriain where I had decent coffee, some sort of delicious croque Monsieur and an apple, all consumed in the company of fellow pilgrims. The setting was magical – also amusing was that there were a couple of locals drinking serious amounts of draught San Miguel while the rest of us were breakfasting.

Best breakfast in Zuriain

Pamplona
Arrived in Pamplona for mid-day and spent a little time looking for a laundrette until a nice Spanish woman stopped me, thinking I was searching for the pilgrimage route, and then explained that they will all be shut today. So the whole washing clothes thing will have to wait a bit. Worse things happen at sea.
