Day 18 If anything could persuade me to become a Catholic…

…it was the experience I’ve just had in a small chapel in the mountain village of Rabanal. Vespers with Benedectine monks (from Germany) chanting in Latin and then multi-lingual readings from the Bible. Magical.

A shortish walk of 14 miles today. I decided that my socks were too horribly wet to wear on damaged feet so I came up with this impromptu drying line. It worked well.

And at long last my cowboy hat got the recognition it deserved in a village called Ganso. Truly foul lunch, prepared and served by the dirtiest pair of hands I have seen for a long time. I think he should have stopped smoking while he made my sandwich.
