Being a Monday, the hotel kitchen was closed so one had to go to a nearby bakery for breakfast. One of the other customers in there was the hotel manager, reading the newspaper, who gave me a smile as I came in.

The day started, as is tradiitonal on this camino, with a nice long climb through yet another type of landscape. This was open, more like a heath.

After the hill, there was then a rather nice and arty village - A Mamoa - which had a curious and creative bunch of metal stick pilgrims. I particularly liked the stick dog.

Then it was a few kms to A Grela where there was a closed church and then outside the village a cross which apparently has some history although I couldn't find out anything on-line. It certainly looked old.

Next was a walk out of the hills into the little town of Codeseda. I had to get past a. fierce dog though first who couldn't make up his mind whether to jump off a 12 foot wall to bite my ankles.

Plus I had to make it past a couple of adorable donkeys...

The bar in Codeseda was clearly a major pilgrim stop. Calling yourself the Caminho da Geira was a clue.

There was one very stressed out woman serving food but she managed to deliver some nice food as well as a couple of beers. Big mistake in ordering a tortilla - was expecting a piece of tortilla. Instead a freshly made 10 inch tortilla arrived which was simply impossible to eat.

The weather was pleasant - warm, dry but not too hot - for a final 12km into Estrada. It was a funny walk in - it was all woods and countryide and then one suddenly arrives into Estrada. I had an apartment with a washing machine and dryer so it was important to get all the clothes washed. Dinner was in a fairly rough restaurant - I ordered some type of steak which turned out to be mostly bone. However the wine and hierbas washed it down ok.
